I am looking for a dress for my dd's wedding in May - it is outdoors. Not only and I the mother of the bride, but I am also her maid of honor. The question is, which one should I look like? I am 50 years old, so I certainly cannot wear one of those strapless, form fitting dresses :glare: So, if you would, take a look at this dress and let me know what you think!

TIA !

I think it is a very lovely, elegant dress. But others may know more about styles and such. To me, it seems like it would be fine.

You're her maid of honor? That is so incredibly touching *sniff* You two must have a wonderful relationship.

Have you asked her what she'd like? Is it a very formal wedding, or more casual? I think the dress is lovely, but if the wedding will be more formal, it might not be quite right? Also, be sure to read the reviews--some said it was very tight across the bust and arms.

Good luck with your search. I hope you find something you both love!

Out of all the dresses I bookmarked, this is the one dd liked the best. She has always been a big fan of pink!
I would say the wedding is somewhere between formal and casual.

I do have to say I am very touched she chose me to stand up with her. She is my only dd. During her teen years, our relationship was quite rocky, to say the least. She is very strong willed and opinionated (wonder where she got that!). There were days that I thought we would never be able to have any type of relationship. But, somewhere, somehow, things have changed. We can talk, speak our minds, express ourself, and there are no more arguments - it is wonderful. And I am proud and honored to stand with her as she takes her wedding vows!

The idea of you being the matron of honor, the dress, the way you describe your relationship with dd, all of it is beautiful. You have a lot to be proud of!

It's a simple design and a nice soft color that will fit in well with the outdoors. It also has some elegance in the top and it's length that lends itself to the special event. If your dd likes it and you like it, I think it would be divine!

You might have a little trouble with the dress falling down your arms much like a strapless gown would. May I suggest that you buy a product called Body Glue. It works well and isn't harmful to yourself or the fabric. I get mine on Ebay, I don't know where else to get it. I use it to keep my bra straps in place. This should keep it right on the shoulders where you want it and it will last through the entire day.

I like it, and second the suggestion for the body glue. If you're ordering it online, be sure to give plenty of time for an exchange!

Yes! And, in a pinch, I use double sided clear tape. I used to purchase Hollywood tape and realized it was the same thing, just $8.00 more! :-)

I think it is lovely. I agree with the tight across the chest comment though. I had to return bridesmaid's dresses to Chadwick's because the sizes ran small in the bust. If you have time to try one size then reorder if it doesn't fit, I say go for it.

I only wish more dresses fit like that!

Sue - It's beautiful! Really - it will be stunning! My mom wore something similar to my wedding.

I mulled it over and over and over. I read all the comments. I measured myself four times! And, then I ordered it! And, I got an extra $25.00 off because of some special that ends tomorrow. So, we shall see.

And, yes, I have time to return it and try again if I need to. I will also buy body glue, too :001_smile:

Thank you for all your responses and opinions! I'll keep you posted!

Then I would totally go for it. Best wishes to all of you!

ETA: Oops, I see you already did. I hope it's as perfect as it looks :D
