For those who will be receiving palm leaves in church today: Does anyone know of any good sites that teach how to make things from them, or you know of any fun projects? My expertise in this area extends to sticking them behind a wall crucifix until they get cob-webby. :o

I don't, but I'll be back for ideas! Ours tend to end up lost behind dressers.

We make crosses. Google "Palm Leaf cross" and you'll find many sites explaining how.

I'm kind of the anti-craft mom; so, I'm not very good at these things. But my kids like making (the older ones) or receiving (all of them) little Palm crosses. I usually come down from the choir loft at the end of Mass with four little crosses and the kids really like getting them. And, bonus, they're young enough that no one notices the, erm, irregularities.

Ohh, check this out! This might be our evening project! We'll see who can make the best bird!

Okay, so we'll probably just make the palm crosses as always, but isn't that cool!

My class of 5th graders enjoyed it, but getting them all to do fold them correctly was like herding cats. I should have just handed each of them a folded cross and gone on to teach them the lesson! It took us almost a half-hour. For my class I cut the palm fronds in half so they would be easier to work with, and found out that palm fronds that are too thin are difficult to fold, too.

I like to make them into crosses, because they've been blessed, and I think of them as special. Dh saves some at church to burn for the Ash Wednesday service the following year--so, again, they are somewhat precious to me.
But I have to say, that bird of 3littlek's is cool!

I found another great site, in case people are still looking (we got a lot of palms this year!): Palm Sunday Craft Ideas. (http://www.catholicmom.com/palm_crafts.htm)
