by his Indian fellow workers. They commonly say, "Do the needful thing." We were wondering tonight where that came from; turns out, according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_English), that it's a left-over from the days when India was a colony of England.

So as he did a little more googling on the phrase, he came up with this site (http://www.jeremygilby.com/?p=1043). Note: We did not read the rest of the site, and cannot vouch for the family friendliness thereof. Just read this.

Dh also found a site that sells t-shirts and men's briefs with "The Needful Thing" printed on them.

We laughed until we cried.

Funny! That made me think of the book 'Needful Things' by Steven Kings.

See, and I had never heard of that book until tonight, when I went searching for the Wikipedia article dh told me about. Wikipedia has quite a long article about the book, and movies which reference it, and even other books which do.

Guess I'm gonna have to go read it myself:D
