Dh, after suffering terribly intense pain on Thursday night, was diagnosed with a kidney stone. He's been miserable since and we were praying it would take 48ish hours to pass. It's been 48 hours and he's still pretty sick. My dad and brother-in-law are urologists, so we're getting all the medical info. But in your experience, how long did it take to pass the kidney stone?

Thanks so much --
Lisa

My Dh has kidney stones. He said that he normally passes them in about 6 hours. I'm sure that your husband knows to drink alot alot alot. Is he able to take medication for the pain? I'm sorry I know those things are very painful.

So sorry he's going through this. My first one was the worst; intense pain! I was in the hospital for 2 days and then it was another 2 days at home before it passed. I was on some pretty powerful meds. I'll pray for quick passing!

But in your experience, how long did it take to pass the kidney stone? I think it depends a lot on the size of the stone. I have a narrowing of the ureter so my stones get stuck in one spot. I've had 3 kidney stone surgeries in 3 months, my last was 2 days ago. Thank God for pain meds.

Hope your husband is feeling better soon!

My dh had one that passed in about 4 hours. It was painful but small as far as stones go. He drank a lot of water!!!

Ugh, what a terrible experience. I was told I had "multiple" kidney stones last June. I went to the doctor on Monday, but I couldn't really function again until Friday. It was a long, miserable week; Darvocet helped immensely. I hope it doen't take this long for your husband.

I'm amazed at how this can bring a big man down so hard. I wanted to get some perspective -- I'm praying that it will be resolved soon!

Have a great evening. Off to check on my patient --

He was unable to pass it. His left kidney was in total renal failure because it was blocked by a 9 mm kidney stone. They had to blast it out with a laser. He was not a happy camper :crying:

But, I'm sure he is in good hands with your family of doctors. I hope it passes quickly for him. They are not fun.

My dh had one that had to be blasted too. Did your dh have an ultrasound to confirm the size of it? If it doesn't pass soon, I would want that done.
