I am looking for a foreign language program, and I would like some reviews of the Tell Me More program. Please tell me the age(s) of the children who used the program, if they enjoyed the program, if the program was effective, etc. Any info you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Homebuyers Co-op has a special on this right now, but it ends on Nov. 2, so I need to make a decision soon.

Cross-post to K-8 board.

Thanks!

They started when they were 10 and 12. The 10 yo is learning okay with it, but the 12 yo who is definitely not a language person doesn't seem to be progressing so fast. My guys had all ready learned some basic French and a bit of grammar.

I just got a new introductory level CD this week which goes over letters, numbers, basic conversation etc. They needed this before Complete beginner level.

I still feel they need more explanation of verbs and tenses than they're getting in the CDs.

I have used L'Art de Lire here before, and we hated it. They like Tell Me More much better.

Pros: cheap, mostly self taught and directed. involves listening, speaking, and writing at different levels.

Cons: assumes more knowledge than an elementary child might have. Progresses quickly. May need extra teaching.
