This year we are studying ancients. We will do a little play based on "The Tortoise and the Hare" - it is really simple (we did it when ds10 was much smaller and we'll just do the same again this year for dd6). We just do basic dialog between the tortoise and the hare and the other animals all cheer them on. We made a party of it. I got some basic white t-shirts at Wal-mart and the kids drew the animal of their choice on the t-shirt with fabric markers. We had "turtle sundaes" as a treat!

When my older kids were littles, they used to LOVE putting on plays. They would always make their own costumes and it was a riot seeing what they came up with. I wish I had pictures.

There is a series of scripts called Broadway Jr that might be what you are looking for.
