View Full Version : Is GWG followed by JAG a good grammar plan???
I'm questioning grammar after watching Janice in NJ's AWESOME youTube videos! (Go watch it if you haven't!) I've been planning on doing GWG 1-3 and then in 4th or 5th switching to JAG and then AG. Will this give me as solid as a base in grammar as R & S? Anyone? Anyone? :001_huh: I'm planning on WT 1 & 2 (& 3 if its out in time!) and then switching to CW if that matters. Thanks for any advice!

We use GWG and it's just as solid as R&S if you ask me, only in workbook form. Well, you already knew that. :) R&S is a solid program, but it's not for everyone. 2 of my dc do well with it and one hated it and so switched to GWG. I hope you get some responses about JAG and AG. GWG should prepare your dc for higher level grammar just as well as R&S.

Well Kathy, I sure hope so because that's exactly what we're planning. Dd7 just finished up GWG 2 and we're going to start GWG 3 next month. Our long-term plans are to use JAG or continue with GWG until AG in 6th.
I'm getting to the point where I don't want to watch or read what someone else is doing -- isn't that awful?! But, it does tend to make me start the second-guessing cycle and it can be vicious!
FWIW, we're using Imitations in Writing from Logos school this year (Aesop's Fables) and we're getting ready to do some of IEW's Ancient History writing. Best of luck to you... I know it's hard to feel confident with our selections when there's so many good choices out there!!

I hear you! Actually, I usually stop reading the boards after I've made my curricula decisions for the next year. And, I've realized this year that I need to plan some things out more than a year at a time! It is really easy to start questioning yourself. I haven't jumped around in math or spelling/reading, Latin or history but I've jumped in science, grammar, art, geography, copywork and Bible. I'm ready to nail a few more things down and say "We use ______" and not even look further. It is hard for me to do that b/c I love to research and read!
