I am trying to decide between R&S for Bible and Studying God's Word by CLP for Bible. We have been doing A/O Lifepacs and I am growing weary of checking the working and assigning it. I bummed a Studying God's Word "G" from a friend and it looks comparable to my R&S 6th grade sample with less work I suppose.

Do you think R&S Bible is like their English? Meaning rigorous and all?

I wish I could find something that wasn't so textbooky; kwim? Any suggestions? I have a 2nd and 3rd grader coming up as well that I will probably just assign them a storybook to read alone. I feel like my 6th grader should have more accountability. She does read a storybible along with a Keys for Kids during her own (by choice) devotion time.

Thanks guys!

No, I don't think the R&S Bible is rigorous like their grammar program; it is thorough and complete though. The program covers Genesis to Revelation in 4 years (5th-8th grade).

So far I've used the R&S Bible program in 5th and 6th grade. I don't plan any teaching time because the program is very straight forward. I use this program as an individual devotional time during the week for my older boys.

When I first started homeschooling, I used some of the earlier books in the Studying God's Word series. I decided to combine our reading and Bible subjects by using the R&S Reading program and then continued with the R&S Bible program in 5th grade.

Next year my 7th grader will start Omnibus I which incorporates literature, Bible, and history. I'm not sure about leaving the R&S Bible program; however, my boys are more familiar with the New Testament because of Sunday School, so I'm hoping that they won't miss too much by dropping the 7th & 8th grade books. I thought that R&S Bible for 5th & 6th gave them a great foundation in the Old Testament.

Even from the beginning, I did not plan to go past R&S Bible 8 because the high school level books introduce more of the Mennonite doctrines.
