Ode to Old Green Beans

I have loved thee long, green beans, though not well,
Since thy days in darkness I have squandered,
Seeking other, fresher goods from the dell,
While thou, waiting, hoping, my love pondered.

Long hast thou lived in the stank repose of death:
Thou hast seen holidays and merriment
Beyond the fleeting dreams of life’s stale breath,
More than legumes before you ere they went!

But today the dirge is finally sung,
Thy plastic coffin I joylessly rend:
It looks as though thou wilt again be young
In the fungal afterlife without end.

Green beans, string beans, I will remember you
Until trash be taken, whilst your smell I rue.

Nah, just an excuse to sit at the computer for a minute in the middle of cleaning out the fridge!

You know, when the inspiration hits....:D

But, fwiw, the fridge is cleaned out, the nasty trash in the dumpster, dishes done, nap taken (!), etc.

Now, laundry....

Hm? Can I find something literary to do w that? ;)

Can you conjure a limerick for my lettuce, a couplet for my condiments? As for laundry -- an elegy perhaps? It may be the death of me!

Um, my mil is coming over!!!:willy_nilly: And I've been sick for a week or so (better now).

But that's not really my excuse. (whispering) Between me & you, some of the stuff in my fridge was dated 11/07. Some of it moved here w/ us back in Aug.
