The Exciting World of Creative Writing

by Ruth E. McDaniel. I bought this book a few weeks ago. I read through it and I am so excited to get started on it next year with ds 5th grade.

(I know I put in links for all that I am talking about, but if you are like me I like to see what someone is talking about)

Has anyone else used this book and what are your opinions? If you haven't in my opinion it would be a good book to look into. (just my opinion)

I know that it is set up for the child to teach themselves, but there is ways that you could help teach it to them. I love the way the book is laid out and the way the author presents all of it to you.

I just looked at it! It does look good, I added it to my wish list!

Are you doing any other writing w/ your ds for next year? I was planning to do Jump In Writing w/ my dd who will be in 8th grade -- she likes to write for herself creatively, but not for "school." But maybe I could have her use this AND something less comprehensive than Jump In, instead.

If your ds really enjoys creative writing, National Novel Writing Month (http://www.nanowrimo.org/) is coming up in November! :hurray: They have a Young Writers Program (http://ywp.nanowrimo.org/) that my kids have really enjoyed participating in the last two years.

I also plan on finding more. Not that I will use every bit of every book, but I like to have a variety to give him so he does not burn out on one book/topic. One of the great things about homeschooling!
