I was looking at the new Singapore Primary Math Standard Edition vs. the US Edition. I was thinking of switching for level 3 (we are about halfway through 2B), but then I noticed that the textbook is $15.50 per semester vs. the $8.70 for the US edition, while the workbook is $11.50 per semester vs. $8.70.
Has anyone looked at both yet? Is there enough additional material to justify that sort of percentage increase in price (even if I can't find any of the level 3 US edition materials secondhand)?

with the exception of money, measurement units, a few things like that. I have used both because they did not have the US edition when I first started using it. I *much* prefer the US edition. If you want to get any "extra" I would get the home instructor's manual which, beginning in level 3, is very useful. We also use the challenging word problems that go with each level and use them a level behind the one we are on, just for review.

I *much* prefer the US edition. The Standards Edition is brand spanking new; it satisfies California state standards. Here's a link to the FAQ (http://www.singaporemath.com/articles.asp?id=124).
I'm sticking with Primary Maths US Edition because I've got the materials through 4B.

Read the FAQ on this to decide. It was created to meet California State Standards. I looked at the samples and didn't think it had the character that the other Singapore texts have.
We're sticking with the U.S. edition.:)

I compared the Standards edition to the U.S. edition of the PM Textbook-2B; the Standards edition has ~29% more pages and its price is ~29% higher than that of the U.S. edition.
Some extras that were put into the Standards edition:
- a few additional topics, depending on the level; things like probability/statistics in order to align w/California standards
- extra review problems/exercises
- glossary
- index
I already have PM-1 thru 5 plus parts of PM-6, so I most likely will stick with the U.S. edition all the way through.
