I thought my fellow afterschoolers might enjoy this conundrum.

One evening recently, I had planned on using some of our purchased curriculum for afterschooling and was eagerly looking forward to curling up on the couch with my children for some great read alouds and other fun. What should I find when I went to announce "Hey, let's read a story together!" but that my dd was already curled up on the couch reading her library book. I couldn't bear to disturb her and she sat there engrossed in her book until finishing it about and hour or so later. So I had the conundrum of wanting to work through the resources I've purchased for use and the satisfaction of knowing she's "got it" and enjoys reading for pleasure.:001_smile:

Actually, that's a pretty good conundrum! Isn't is nice to see them enjoy reading so much?

Today I had to insist my son put down the book he was reading and come for Reading class. :) So, yeah, I get it. :)

Yeah, we get this too. The other night they were reading to each other. I slyly watched and listened from the kitchen.

This happened to me the other evening with my oldest, who is only 5 (not even 5 yet, but so close, she wants to be considered 5, LOL).

I was about to suggest doing "Reading-on-the-Bed-with-Mommy," while my husband would do "Reading-on-the-Sofa-with-Daddy" with the twins. But when I found my oldest, she was so engrossed in reading "Little House in the Big Woods," I didn't have the heart to interrupt her enjoyment, in order to read about biomes!

Instead, SHE offered to read to ME! "Would you like me to read aloud to you, Mommy?" Yeah, she's hooked on reading!
