Hi All,
I am wondering if anyone has come across a unti study / lapbook... anything... to study inventors and inventions?
My ds 5 is SO interested in inventions... both creating a unique one of his own, as well as learning about people who have already done it. So, I checked out the book So You WantTo Be An Inventor.. he is hungry for MORE!! :)
I could just check out books, but I'd love something a little more organized, if I could find it!
Thanks!!

www.currclick.com Used to be homeschoolestore. Anyway, I thought I saw something like this, but I just glanced at it, so not sure if it was a unit study or a lapbook or what ages it might be for. Aren't I helpful? ;)

BF has a couple ideas in their History of Science. You could get Great Inventors and study that along with The Way Things Work. Or perhaps some biographies of inventors. Check out the titles at BF for some ideas

We're having fun with a book called Reinvent the Wheel. In each chapter, they explain a problem, then guide you through the steps to build an invention that solves the problem. Then there's an inventor's challenge, where they give you hints about how to improve your invention, but don't give you all the answers. It starts with the potter's wheel and goes through inventions based on simple machines, inventions using chemistry, and inventions you can live in. There's probably more stuff I'm forgetting. We've only done the first few chapters so far. Check out our marshmallow catapult video, but bear in mind that we didn't actually knock over the enemy soldiers with marshmallows, we just edited it to look that way.

Professor Noggins offers an Inventions game, too, to go along with your books.

The Story of Inventions is a great book. Not sure if it was already mentioned. This book takes you thru the struggles of the inventors as they work on their invention. It's in narrative style writing so it's easy to read and very informative.
This might be part of the BF books, but I don't remember.
