The one about number of posts envy from last night. It was right in the middle of all the other posts and now it's not there at all.....

I see what happened. I suggested giving random rep (which I think others have already been talking about doing for weeks). Apparently there really *is* a reason for rep, which I didn't understand as I've never bought or sold online before, been on a forum such as this, etc. I see from several managerial posts that rep has finally been explained. I'm not sure why it wasn't just explained to begin with.....

It wasn't explained previously because the explanation was written BY engineers FOR engineers :ack2: and we just haven't had time to write it to be user-friendly. As you may recall, the old boards were on life support so we had to drop everything and rush to get these boards up before the others died. We're slowly working to post all the appropriate information but we have a zillion other things on our plates and the big curriculum-buying season is upon us, so it may be awhile longer before we get to all the FAQs. Thanks for your patience.

Sorry to be a bother. I have no idea how computer related stuff works at all. I thought ya'll had purchased some sort of pre-packaged program that was perhaps being used for other, similar forums and that you couldn't really make major changes to it. That's the only reason I suggested bypassing features that seemed to be causing others distress. I really had no idea that there was any sort of real, intended usefulness, as this is the only real internet interaction I have.
