I use my internet service provider's homepage as mine. I used to have The Drudge Report, but I began to feel like Chicken Little every time I got online, so I switched. My ISP's homepage has our local news and weather, a few national headlines, and the link to get to my e-mail. Perfect for me.

I like Google. I have the the news outlets I want, plus my bookmarks and some of the blogs I read regularly. Best of all, it has no photos, just headlines.

I use Google, too. I have the news headlines, and fun stuff like local weather, CS Lewis quote of the day, word of the day, etc...

I skip news altogether and just go to weather.com
(Spring is coming soon...spring is coming soon...:))
But we get the NYTimes, and I usually get info from that.

How did you set up Google as your homepage? That is not the search engine page is it? When I opened Google News there were pictures.

www.npr.org It has relatively quick news, but does not include the vapid news stories with photos plastered over the front page. Nothing quite so embarrassing as a 10y/o asking why yet another political figure is in the news again w/ sultry photos.
I switched back to NPR yesterday after the NY Gov scandal's pictures where on CNN.

Try this link (iGoogle (http://www.google.com/ig?hl=en)). You will make an account (like Yahoo or MSN), then you can personalize your page.
You will be able to select a theme (colors, etc.) and determine all of the content you want to show.
