We're going to be studying Canada and I want the boys to be reading independently a biography or good story that would give them some geographical info and/or a sense of life in Canada. They are 8yo and 10yo, reading a little above grade level. I don't care if it is older or more recent. And we are Christians, so any missionary stories would be a plus (if they are well written!). Thanks for any help!

The Kids Book of.......series by various authors...This series will give you lots of people to read about, and can be a starting point to explore the library for more biographies.

Check out the YWAM missionary biographies - Jonathan Goforth was from Canada, and Wilfred Grenfell went to Newfoundland and Labrador to work with fishing village people.

Paddle to the Sea by Holling is a wonderful book that covers much of Canada. It is mostly geography but it is really neat.

I think The Incredible Journey is set in Canada. I'm planning on reading it to my dd's when we cover Canadian history next year.
