I'm wondering if there is anything out there as logical as AG that covers writing ?
We will be going through IEW 4day intensive, but I won't be continuing the program, too much $.
My dc are 7th and 5th grade and we have been using Bob Jone english this year, but I'm not really happy with the instruction for the writing section. It moves around from topic to topic quickly so I don't feel like they are getting a good foundation in writing.

What course will lay a firm foundation for writing and isn't too hard for me to use?

Thanks!

Ruth, You might try cross-posting this to the high school board to get some responses. Good luck!

We used the IEW Medieval plans this year...4th and 7th graders...and enjoyed it. Why don't you try one of the themed based lessons since you are familiar with the program?

You can take a look at Classical Writing. I find it very logical and it gives plenty of time to learn each skill. I think it would work well with AG, especially the first level (Aesop) since it doesn't even require a separate grammar program.

and I really like it. (I haven't seen Apprentice or Craftsman, but all received very good reviews from SWB - http://www.welltrainedmind.com/wordsmith.html)

Right now I am using Rod & Staff. But, Wordsmith teaches the same concepts and is more user-and-mom-friendly. I'd think it would work great alongside AG.

Wordsmith does come with it's own schedule in the TM. (Basically, the TM tells you when to do what, and gives a few pointers on what to look for in the writing. It does not duplicate the student book.)
