I'm usually on the K-8th board. However, I need advice from experienced moms on what writing program to use.

How do you think I should plan my children's writing curriculum? I have 5th and 3rd.

THANKS.

in IEW, and I wish I had used it with my high schooler.

Now that they have their Theme Based writing manuals available, I think that IEW goes very well with the WTM approach.

Some say it's too formulaic, but I've seen my son write more easily and with more variation in his writing almost from the start of using IEW.

One thing we did over the summer after 5th grade that is still paying dividends -- we had ds learn to touch type. Editing is so much less of a chore now.

Best wishes,
Brenda

If I had started in 2nd grade, my kids would have benefited!

I make plans as I go along and see the needs of the child because what was excellent for one child, never meets the same needs in the next child.

I believe in using a curriculum for all that we can get out of it and then looking through my books and asking questions on the board to make the next decision for the child.

This year for my 8th grader, we started with Put That In Writing, but have moved through sections of Format Writing and Composing Sentences for Middle School as well.

This may not help you find what you need, though. :-/ FWIW.
