And it went so well! :001_smile:
I can't believe I'm teaching my baby to read.
I can't believe he's soooooooo ready to learn.
I just love that little guy.
I'm using The OPGTR...now that I've sat down and used it, I love it. It only seems complicated when you first look at it.

Congrats! This was a very poignant thing for me as well. I would have to say teaching my boys to read has been the most rewarding thing! It was also THE things that convinced my Dad I might just be able to do this. Our oldest was public-schooled through the third grade, and I didn't teach him how to read -- well, I wasn't even around when he learned how to read LOL.
I was suprised at how easy it was. I'm not saying it is easy for everyone. I was actually a little fearful of it myself! My youngest was the hardest because he saw his older brother reading and wanted to do the same, but I could not get him to remember the letters -- to differentiate them. Someone on this board recommended the Leap Frog Phonics DVDs. Within a couple of weeks, my son knew all the letters and sounds. AMAZING!
I also was astonished because I trusted Debra Bell's recommendation of a simple phonics book -- Alpha Phonics -- and chose it over a complex system -- and it worked! At least for my children.
The whole learning process is so amazing to me!
