I'm not math or science orientated, but I don't want to buy it and regret the $$$ spent
thanks

But, I haven't "done" it yet. I'm sure you know this, but you aren't "buying" the DVDs...just leasing them. I know that I will eventually have to use the DVDs if we stick with BJU, but I plan to delay at least until earth science. Also, I believe that the DVDs go with the older (2nd) edition of Life Science rather than the newer (3rd) edition. This was another reason I decided to give it a go without the DVDs.

Hope you hear from some with actual experience!

No, I think that you would be ok. I am a non-science mom!!! I am doing BJU 7 Life Science this year. I as originally going to go with the DVD's but I wanted to use the new 3 edition (the one with all the pretty fish on the cover). They did not have the DVD's available for this edition. I had several more children that need to get through the book; so I wanted the newest version.

We have been fine so far on our own. The teacher's manual is wonderful and lays the whole course out. There were a couple of things that she had questions on, that I could not help her with. I just used google and found info on the internet, that seemed to help. It was really minor things. The book is really self- explanitory, so my student does do a lot on her own. I do use the tests to help gage where she is at and how she is grasping the material.

I do recommend that you get a kit for the science supplies. We purchased ours from Home Science Tools. It makes things so much easier. I was worried about the dissection, but that went better then I expected --the workbook really lays it out easily. (This is from a Mom whom has never dissected anything!!) There are also tons of great online resources for this as well.

If you have any specifics about the course. Let me know I can try to help. We are on chapter 23 right now.
