I would like to hear what other think as well.... I have printed out the samples and plan to match the corresponding topics with our spine. We will be starting US History in the fall and these look great.

We did New World Explorers. The lap books turned out beautiful. The notebooks are very nice. The kids learned very much. But it took SO SO much time to do. At one point I was about to give up. I really didn't want to spend so much time on the explorers. For me, the printing (lots and lots of printing) and the cutting out, and the overall prep was more than I expected. If you are not on a schedule this is a fantastic, well thought out project, beautifully put together.

Also, this is a unit study. Getting books together to complement the material was a little challenging for me. I like those curricula that tell me exactly what book to buy, and exactly when to use it. Without supplemental books to enliven the learning, I think this could be dry. Although the maps and projects are great.

I still fight myself not to do another one. The only reason I don't is that I can't continue to spend so much time on one subject. I'm already 1 year behind the WTM schedule, and I'd really like to catch up and then start the next cycle with TOG. I think I'm dreaming....

In summary, the Time Traveler Series are exceptional. I can't think of how they could be better done. The projects are wonderful.

That's what I wanted to hear. I am ok with it taking time to make a project, I just don't want to plan the projects.

We are using the TT Explorers unit right now. It is a wonderful program for such a great price. I think it will take us about 4-6 weeks to complete it. I am integrating it into Los Banos American history. Some curriculums zoom through the Explorers, but since I have boys who love adventure stories I wanted to spend some extra time on this.

There are many notebooking and lapbook ideas. You wouldn't need to do them all. There is a 1-2 page summary of each explorer, some copywork, some mapwork and some small projects to go into a lapbook at the end. We are supplementing the program with short biographies on each explorerer. We just finished Pedor's Journal, Cabot and Son, and a short biography of Balboa.

I like the easy paper crafts. I don't like having to cook or do random crafts. All of the ideas can go into a beautiful notebook or lapbook (although the curriculum does have a few other ideas).

For $25 it has been a great purchase. The graphics alone make it worth. High quality and educational!

I am using Time Travelers Colonial Life as a supplement to Tapestry of Grace. I just bought TOG recently so I am on Yr.2 Unit 4. I have found the projects in Colonial Life to be a WONDERFUL addition to TOG. We are currently using the Colonial Clothing project as an addition to our display board on Colonial Fashions. Next week we will be using the tin can project to make punch tin art. We will also be using it to do the stenciling project.

I have found it so worthwhile, and so beautifully done (drawings are spectacular!) that I plan to buy the new one they are coming out with soon to complement next years TOG study in Yr. 3.

I have had this for a bit of time and would say the projects are what really sell it for me. I wouldn't personally use it on its own as it would take a lot of planning to pull it into a complete unit study. Here is a post at Plain Janes blog that shows how she uses it.
