WHAT IS FELTING? I thought I knew all about knitting, but this is a new one for me.

With a wool yarn you knit something up and then wash it in hot water over and over till it shrinks up to become more of a fabric with a felt like appearance. You can't see the stitches anymore. You can then cut and sew into a garment. I think a lot of people knit bags and then felt them. They are really cute!

You knit something with chunky yarn and large needles bigger than it is supposed to be. Then, you wash the article is hot, hot water till it shrinks and felts together to the right size. I have made felted clog slippers. You knit them on size 13 needles about twice as big as your foot, wash them and walah- they are felted and fit your foot. It is fun. I have a friend whose daughter made fleted purses for Christmas presents last year. They were cute.

wow. . .sounds like fun. . .I have too many other projects going on though to try this now.

Sorry, without those straps on there I just thought it was a funky hat.....STILL. Very cute! :)
