Is an insulated sheet or a dark sheet or another type of sheet best???

They have a little bit bigger cookie sheet, and I like that they don't have sides on them. My chocolate chips have always come out great on them, but I also tend to pull my cookies a little early...I don't like crunchy cookies!

They last a long time and I am never disappointed.

A well seasoned Pampered Chef stone. I love mine. I would not trade them for anything else to bake on.

It doesn't matter what kind of baking sheet, but I love my Silpat! It's a silicone sheet dh got me for Christmas last year. It costs $25, but it lasts forever, and nothing sticks!

I used to have one and I just didn't care for it...it felt greasy to me. It worked great, though! I think I was just spoiled from using parchment for years...washing a silpat was not on my radar. Gave it to my niece and she loves it. Now if she could learn to cook something besides cookies and cupcakes (she's 29 and has been married for 5 years!)...

they never burn, get overcooked, and come off easily. One of my teenagers made cookies last week and used a regular metal cookie sheet with sides (that we use for other things) and the cookies turned out bad. they said too, that they'd never use anything but our stone for cookies.

Yeah, sometimes having to wash the silpat is a pain, but not as much as washing the cookie sheet. I actually keep parchment paper on hand too, in case I need to line more cookie sheets than I have Silpat for. With five kids this happens often.
