He's not in the video but the therapist who appears taught him a couple of years ago.

Wow, very interesting. Do you have any links for web sites about this therapy? I have a friend with an autistic child and after many years of her highly rated school district not meeting his IEP she brought him home.

A great place to start learning about ABA is reading Catherine Maurice's Let Me Hear Your Voice. It's a fictionalized account of a family (her family, but she wanted to protect their identities) going through having 2 kids diagnosed with autism and doing ABA therapy. It's a bit old, but it's the classic book on the subject. Unlike most others, it's really optimistic and gave me a lot of hope when my dss were first diagnosed. Catherine Maurice also has a couple of non-fiction books on ABA treatment: Behavioral Intervention for Young Children With Autism and Making a Difference.

For websites, here's a place to start:

It's my son's school's site, but if you look around they link to lots of useful information.

If your friend posts to the Special Needs board, she'll get help and support. It's hard to get started, but once you get in a groove you can see a lot of progress. :auto: (Sorry, had to use the car smiley, ds's been asking for it!)
