I know these are two different styles of teaching (SM is more mastery and Horizons is spiral) so I was wondering if my possible "plan" will work.
Background: Right now we are using EB as our core and supplementing with CT Math Reasoning Level A. EB A is very easy, so that will be completed soon. I'm going to try to go slow through EB B but I can't imagine it lasting much more than the beginning of next year. I am looking for something to do between the completion of EB and dd getting closer to 5 years old (about a one year time span). Mainly because she can't write and Singapore 1A sounds like it will be too intense for a 4 year old (even one that seems to grasp math easily).
My possible plan is to continue to Horizons K after EB and do that along side our CT math (we will do Level A then progress to Level B when that book is done).
Does going from SM to Horizons seem reasonable or will it confuse her? I'm not sure how different they are in terms of presenting material. OR will it be ok since it will give her another insight into doing math? (since I read a lot of folks use the two together). OR should I look into something else during the time (she will essentially be 4 years old during the time I need something). She loves workbooks and I already ruled out RightStart, MUS, and Saxon - yes, I'm making this tough, huh!?!?!
Bottomline: I was just worried about jumping from EB to Horizons back to 1A would confuse her.
Thanks!:bigear:
