My DD has informed me, probably correctly, that by doing CTY math and math at school- I have guaranteed her boredom at school. Math is the subject she loves best.

I don't think I can do much about it. My goal for the CTY math is to ensure that is challenged beyond what the school can provide- since I believe school math is too easy for her.

If your child does both, how do you address the school boredom factor? (She is in the French curriculum- there isn't any other class for her to attend.)

:auto: This is D.. speeding ahead in math!

Could you speak to the teacher and have her use the classroom math time as a study hall for other class work or as a math/logic enrichment time? Perhaps as long as she is acing the classroom tests and you are providing progress reports from CTY they might be willing to work with you.

I second the suggestion to arrange for dd to not take school math. She could read a book, work on CTY on a computer in another room, draw a picture. . . Obviously there is no point in having her bored out of her mind.

If she is in public school, I'd get her and IEP ASAP. A child in ps has a *right* to an appropriately challenging curriculum. . . You might have to go to bat for her. . . over and over. . .
