We are using Life of Fred as our main math curriculum. Dd is currently in LOF Advanced Algebra and doing well.

She was in a traditional school for Algebra I, so she used a textbook there, although we did supplement with LoF Algebra to help with homework.

I would really like to give her a test every other week, from a different publisher, just to be sure she really understands the material and can apply it outside the LoF books.

Any suggestions for materials that would fit this description? I was thinking perhaps the Saxon, but won't that also have geometry in it?

the tests that go along with the Key to series. They look easy to match up and figure out if anything got missed.

Of course, my dd is just in Beg Algebra.

as a kind of crosscheck. I didn't have dd do it after every unit--but after she finished LOF Beginning, I had her pick the chapters in Easy Way that she had heard of, and used them as a review, then test. ditto after Advanced, altho LOF actually covered more stuff than was in Easy Way.

Great! Both of those are excellent suggestions. Thanks.

Another possibility might be to pick up a used copy of Lial's Intermediate Algebra (Algebra 2). I seem to recall that each chapter has a chapter review with answers in the back of the book. I think you could easily draw what you need from those problems.
