Computer gone down--help?!

My computer is down so I'm logging on dh's laptop. Problem: computer was acting a little wierd so I hit "restart". Computer restarted, but XP did not come up, just a solid dark blue screen. I can get it to start in safe mode, but I have no idea what to do to fix it. Can anybody point me to a good troubleshooting site or give me a clue? Ds needs this 'puter daily for calc and spanish...and no internet in safe mode, of course, so we've gotta fix it fast. Any help?

Ok--nevermind. I finally thought to unplug the MP3 player that was charging in my USB port. Viola. Who knew?
