Hello All,
I know somewhere buried in the WTM "bible" is a listing on the types of dictionaries they recommend. Thought though that i might find some other suggestions from your experiences with AL's.

I remember pawing through a Kingfisher and thinking, "c'mon! really?" As it stands right now, my 6.85 y/o :) knows exactly which page from which text out of her two bookcases full to visit if she needs to know how to spell a word for a letter or story she writes.

Any suggestions of titles from you all?????
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Whit

Are you looking for a family dictionary or one for her alone? I bought the Shorter Oxford English dictionary and I love it. It is 2 volumes. The bigger one is closer to 10 plus volumes if I remember correctly. This one is a family dictionary. It is Big and heavy.

It is Big and heavy. We love our Shorter Oxford, and have both the print and CD-ROM editions. The latter is nice because you can search for derivatives (we often do this for Latin) and it has an audio pronunciation feature.
