Has anyone else had experience with teaching a dc to read while working on visual discrimination problems?

I noticed that ETC books A, B, and C have activities that are somewhat similar to a few of the VT activities for ds6.

He has been using SWR...I wouldn't want to drop it completely, but I am thinking about taking a pause (reviewing daily, but not taking on new ).

The funny thing is I bought the ETC A, B and C books for him a LOOONNNGGGGG time ago and it was just a flop (the visual discrimination issues were likely the reason...) sigh! I think it might be really good for him now though...idk...

Someone just come hold my hand and map out his language arts plan for me...thanks!:D:tongue_smilie:

What was best here was the I See Sam readers from www.3rsplus.com along with using the cursor/notched card that they mention in their resources. It really helps with tracking. The books also keep letters that are easily confused like b/d p/q, etc. far apart in the instructional sequence.
