I stumbled upon this when looking for some info. on Poe. There is a huge Poe section as well as Shakespeare and a LOT more. Hope this helps someone.

Thank you so much! I am teaching a short story class at our co-op starting next week, and a few of the stories I selected are on this list -- this will be so useful!

I will look further into this site, but I have been comparing this sort of resource for Tartuffe, which I am going to teach next month. This writer says the play is a satire on religious hypocrisy. I think a thoughtful consideration will show that is not Molier's true aim. Everybody assumes that is the element he is satirizing; it is commonly taught that way, but in fact Tartuffe is not religious at all. He is a charlatan. I think the satire is on people who fall easily prey to things that are being said, without examining whether there is any substance behind it. I think we should be very careful not to pass on to our kids what other people say about a work, which is what a cut & paste approach to literary analysis lends itself to.
So thank you for the list; but let's be careful to practice good thinking as we use these time-saving helps.
