NPR does a weekly economics podcast called Planet Money. I just discovered today that Philip Daileader (William and Mary medieval historian who does a series of wonderful Teaching Company lectures) was featured on two podcasts this summer. You and your students can learn about twelfth century economics by listening to this first (http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2009/07/hear_bloody_miserable_medieval.html) podcast as well as the second (http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2009/08/podcast_economics_for_12th_cen.html). The follow up podcast addresses medieval Chinese economics with historian Kenneth Pomeranz, found here (http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2009/09/podcast_economics_for_medieval.html).
In all cases, the podcasts have several minutes of economic update information at the beginning. You have to go about four minutes in for the stories/interviews with the historians begin.
The people who do the podcasts are a little twerpy with some of their back and forth. These are not TC lectures--they are an attempt to examine economics for lay people.
Enjoy!
