If so, what type should I purchase to cover math through Calculus? Where is the best place to purchase this? Thank you, Angela

Nope. My dc didn't use one with alg I. DS used it some use with Foerster's Alg 2, and certainly he will be using one heavily this year in pre-cal.:001_smile:
My dd began alg I with Foerster's in 8th grade at home with me. In 9th grade she began ps and studied alg I again since they don't offer alg to 8th graders. In ps she used the graphing calculator ALOT . I was VERY glad that she had experienced alg I with me WITHOUT such heavy calculator use.

If however your question is really "What should I buy for the long haul?" Then I would say either the TI-84 silver plus or look at TI's new Inspire series. Make sure that whatever calculator you purchase is allowed on standardized tests like SAT. (both that I mentioned are allowed). You really want to expend the extra $$ for the TI-84 silver plus over a TI-83 because of the speed of the beast. It is boring waiting for a TI-83 to do it's thing at times.
