I bought Introductory Logic - by Jim Nance used. After looking it over, I'm not sure it's quite what I wanted... but we are going to give it a try w/my 8th grader.
But, if it isn't a good fit with dc, I've been researching Traditional Logic I (Memoria Press) and wondered if the DVDs are worth getting?? Does the author (Cothran) just re-read the text? Or does he add more to the lesson than just whats in the text??
Thanks so much for your help!
Or perhaps we should just plug thru' Introductory Logic and keep Trad Logic I for 9th?? - any thoughts?

I used Intro to Logic last year with my ds15. This year we are just starting the Traditional Logic I. I bought the DVD's to go along with both Trad. Logic I & II. My son has only done the first introductory chapter and most of the book looks to be a review of what he learned last year so he will move quickly and we probably won't worry too much about the dvd's. BUT, with that said, I will try sometime in the next couple of days to watch a few of the lessons to give you an idea about the info on them. Sorry I can't give you more to go on right now.

You don't need the DVDs, especially for book I. I bought them for book II just because the concepts get harder, and I felt I needed to go over the info more than once (Don't know if the kids did or not. LOL!). I did end up getting the DVDs for book I later, and I listened to them so that I could keep up on where my dc#2 was in the book--kind of a review for me the 2nd time around.

I bought the DVD's for TL 1, and I've found them to be unnecessary. Also I thought that the lessons I watched (maybe first 3 or 4) sounded and looked a bit stilted in presentation.
I agree with Jean in WI that DVD's are helpful for TL 2.
