If you had to do a semester of U.S. Government (we're trying to have DS on track in case we decide to put him into public school at some point during high school), what would you use to teach him? I guess I'm looking for something prepackaged that can mostly be done independently. I'm thinking of taking a textbook approach to this simply because we don't normally use textbooks and it's something he needs to be familiar with if he goes to public school or to college, but I have no clue as to how to pick a suitable textbook.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Sue
Just a warning--in our area, on track for credits to transfer means that you've used some sort of "approved", usually online, course.

As for textbooks, Holt American Government would be one to look into. I got mine used at Amazon. WTM says this is a high school standard. WTM also mentions the Idiot's Guide to American Government and suggests its more engaging than the Holt. It may not be so familiar to the schools, however.

Read about it on the site. It's a good text.

It is a really good program but it is a Christian text. There are no literature to go with it just a textbook in the conversational styles of the other Notgrass programs. It also comes with a quiz and answer book so the student has questions to answer and test to take just like the other Notgrass programs. My kids both loved it but they loved Notgrass to begin with.
