Very encouraging.
The last paragraph concerns me a bit but overall it's very positive!
Thankful this didn't happen when Dianne was in office....

Jack O'Connell has always been supportive of our rights to homeschool in CA. One of the first things he did after taking the office was to assure homeschoolers that, unlike the last State Superintendent, he believed filing an R-4 for Is a viable way to homeschool. I would say that the last paragraph is just him doing his job...he is the Superintendent of Public schools first and foremost...even if he, on this issue, supports us. KWIM

Good, I'll still continue to monitor the situation -specifically the court appeal- but it seems there's no fight coming from anywhere. Even if the court decision stands, apparently the state of California doesn't interpret it to mean much difference for folks from what they're doing now.
