It's a new school year and I'm always determined to stay on top of the grading pile and not let it get too high. But it is so hard to fit in, time-wise. Junior high and high school work take so much longer to grade than elementary work! What works for you? When do you do your grading?

My plan was to do it every evening but I'm exhausted by the end of the day having to run a daycare from 7 to 5:30 pm and hs Noah too. So I try to get it done in the morning before he starts his day, however I'm not getting to it all!!! So the remaining stuff get's graded while the rugrats are sleep and Noah's working independently!!! So much for best laid plans!!!!

I try to do mine as soon as they are done with their assignments, but that doesn't always happen so I put in on my to do schedule and will do it on our week off.

For some stuff I have the kids grade (math homework). The rest I do it in the evenings or weekends. But so far it is easy stuff I am grading since we are just starting. Also I have Dh and Niece to help me. They grade the essays. Also for some work I just check to make sure they completed it.

I don't grade all things. English and History are done by papers or exams and those are graded immediately or almost so. Chemistry is by tests, again immediately. Math is also tests since she grades daily work by herself. Spanish I grade every few days but quizzes and tests immediately.

I try to do mine as the work is finished - but if that doesn't happen for whatever reason, I do it that evening.

I did mine the morning after it was turned in, early, before he started his work. BIIIG cuppa coffee, nice and quiet, fresh eyes --worked for me.
Sometimes, I could get things graded as they were turned in. I do that for the little one, as I don't usually need a teacher's guide for the answers, but not as often for the big one.
