Stock market game ?

We just signed up for the Stock market game. I am hoping it will be both fun and educational for 9th graders.
Has anyone played this before we will be in a year long game starting 9/8/09.

My dds were in this last year. They loved it and learned a lot. They learned how the market worked & how to trade and buy stocks. It was a great overview for them. My oldest won the state senior division for Investwrite that went with it. We attended a program where we heard some great financial speakers. Prizes were awarded for the elementary, junior and senior division winners in the Stock Market Game and Investwrite. They were bummed because our little group has had winners in the SMG the last two years but not this. I really recommend it!

Under which option did you register? I am interested in registering my kiddos but have limited experience myself, is this a good idea? Are there teams they can join?

I looked into SMG and then decided that I would do something totally different. I let my son invest in real stock. I set up an account with a brokerage firm; he researched companies, and bought stock. He tracks his investment almost daily, listens to real live news about the market. He listens to the news with a new perspective. Nothing accelerates learning like real life with real money. And his prize has been a 40% return in 6 months.
