TOG is putting together simple scope and sequence documents to condense the highlights of their rhetoric level into a one-page document:
Check out the year two list:

Between the history, literature, government, and philosophy work I think you can see just how much the program covers.
There is a formatting issue with the Year 1 page - I'll post it when they fix it.
A tentative Year Three plan is here (that plan is in redesign this year so there may be changes.)

Are the "extras" (government, philosophy, church history) a full credit each year? Or, 1/4 credit?
And, are there assignments in those categories every week? Just trying to gauge how much extra work those things involve.
Thanks!

I believe that they are 1/2 credit each. I am trying to include as much of the government work as I can because so many of the documents that are foundational to a study of Western Civ are included there.... and we can't skip philosophy. I am loving philosophy!!!!
I'm not quite sure how I'm going to list it on the transcripts though.... I suspect that it will look a bit odd to have government and philosophy every year. ;) Oh well - I'm a mean momma, so I am making him wade through this "stuff" even if he doesn't get "credit" for it.
He is LOVING the Republic. NOT! But I know he'll thank me.... someday.
...maybe...
Isn't life grand!!!!

Thanks, Janice. I've been trying to describe TOG to dh, and this will help immensely!

If you follow this link, you can click on the Colored Year Plan Tabs (Upper Left) for Years 1-3. It links you to each Year Plan's Page. Each page contains a link to the Scope and Sequence summary page for that year. (Year 4 is still in the works.)
And remember - Year 3 is still in redesign and is subject to change.
You can easily see how packed Year 2 is. This gives you room to dwell on the last two hundred years in Year 3 and Year 4 - focusing heavily on the ideas that strongly influence the world that we stand in today.

For someone like me who needs to see the forest FIRST (and often), these sheets will be terrific. They will be in the front of my daily binder as a reminder of just how much we have accomplished and where we are headed! AND they offer me a great at-a-glance way to make this education spiral! I can glance down through these lists when I am preparing to lead a new discussion. There are so many AMAZING connections to be made across the centuries. And sometimes I just need a list to jog my memory of what we covered last week, last unit, or last year. Ta-da! Instant review. Instant connections!
Nicely done!
I'll stop rambling. Can you tell that I really like this program. Tracks to run on, but plenty of space to grow and carve out a tailored education to fit each child.
I'll stop now. You can leave me a note if you have questions about the program. I suspect that most folks here are getting sick of hearing me gush. :001_smile:
Peace,
Janice

It also depends on the year plan. Year 1 has 1 full credit for Bible History (Church History.) You can download High School credit breakdown from the Loom. (http://www.tapestryofgrace.com/loom/interface.htm)
Government is taking us approximately 3-4 hours a week with discussion. Philosophy is about 2 hours, if we don't go off on rabbit trails.

I downloaded The Republic from iTunes (free) so Ben could just read along once in a while. The Republic was difficult, but the year 2 government has been great, love it!
