I wanted to introduce my second grader to grammar this year, so we used Rod & Staff English 2. He reads far above grade level and has perfect oral grammar skills. His handwriting is a little shaky, and we haven't done very much spelling yet. His vocabulary is off the charts.
But, I wanted to prime him for some grammar, which I feel Rod & Staff has done nicely. I already have Daily Grams 4/5, 5/6 and 6. I also used Easy Grammar along with these for my oldest son, and I loved the approach. I want to stick with the same series since I already have the materials and because I liked it so much. I already have extra resources for extra practice on capitalization and punctuation which I feel Easy Grammar rushes through somewhat.
My question -- finally -- is what level should I start my third grader who has finished R&S English 2? I have the older books and don't plan to buy the entire new series. Should I look for a 2nd/3rd or a 3rd/4th?
Or should I just get rid of my older editions and start over with the new single grade editions? (not my preference due to cost).
