I've had good luck with Ebay auctions up until recently. My items usually arrive in a timely manner as described. No problem. I just won an auction for a FULL set of Cuisenaire rods, 2 idea books and a ruler. THe woman "forgot" to ship out the package and finally after 3 emails..she finally responded that she had "forgotten" to mail my package (it had been over 3 weeks). She charged me $6.50 for Media Mail shipping but I didn't say anything b/c the auction was rather inexpensive as it was. Well, I thought it was for what I should have received. So, she advertises a FULL set of Cuisenaire rods. I do my research and see that an intro set at most any place is 74 rods. I received HALF that many, with many missing pieces and one block was CHEWED! She did not include the ruler as she advertised. I am so frustrated I want to scream. Oh, shipping, btw, was only $2.81! I paid $6.50! AND, I won this auction over a month ago and it's just now getting here! I wrote her a very, to-the-point email re: my dissatisfaction. I'm a reasonable person, but this is just unacceptable! I'm not bidding on any more hs stuff on ebay. I'll stick to the boards. I don't like leaving neg. feedback (and this woman has 100% pos. feedback!) but I'm just so mad! That is all.

eBay always advises you contact the seller first to try and resolve it. If that doesn't work, go to your My eBay page and then to the Dispute Console and you can notify eBay of an item that was significantly different than advertised. Be sure to keep all emails from the seller as eBay will request them and you have to include all the headers so they can be sure it's genuine. I also would include the link to the auction listing.
I just went the rounds with a seller over an auction I paid for immediately, then they refunded my money saying they did not have the item (and left me a negative feedback for my trouble). Three weeks later they filed an Unpaid Item notice. I sent a loooooong email to eBay with all the emails showing payment, refund etc. I also emailed the seller (who did not reply). A week and a half later, I got an email from eBay saying I'd been given an unpaid Item Strike. Umm..hello? So I wrote a very stern email and included (again) my email and all the various other emails from that seller and Paypal. I had a reply in five minutes that the strike had been removed.
So....be advised it may take some persistence. Good luck!

I for one would appreciate your negative feedback so I can avoid this seller in the future.

No kidding! Me too. BUT, I would try to get it resolved through the seller. There are many of us who use ebay to sell who are reputable sellers that sell just what we list. I have had a lot of great experiences with ebay. Try not to let the one bad apple spoil the whole bunch for you. I would have sent just what I listed!! :) I am sorry you are dealing with this.

I did send the seller an email as I said. She responded immediately and even gave me a refund (which I did not ask for). I wrote back and told her that I'd split the difference with her. As I said...I'm a reasonable person (usually!) and like to give the benefit of the doubt. So...I gave her half (which covered my win minus shipping). Yes, the package was unacceptable. Based on her previous feedback (100% pos.), I was also willing to cut her some slack. AND, based on the fact that I'm very hormonal AND extremely irritable of recent...I felt I should at least pay for the win just in case I was overreacting (which my dh would tell me I am). So...situation resolved to my satisfaction. Thanks for letting me vent...again!

I have been buying online for a very long time now and I believe that all sellers mess up sometimes, the good sellers are the ones who stand behind what they advertised and are prepared to take a loss to compensate for their mistakes. It sounds as if this lady is a reasonably good seller who made some mistakes, but was ready to take full responsibility for them.
I think you were very generous - I would have accepted the full refund for two reasons: 1) the delay in shipping out the package 2) the need to now purchase another set in order to have everything you were trying to buy
...but your response was much kinder and more gracious!
I would be sure to leave a positive feedback mentioning her commitment to customer satisfaction - and I hope you'll consider continuing to buy online, most sellers are honest and caring!
