I'm exhausted and my brain's a little fuzzy. I'm pretty sure it's because I ate great yesterday and just didn't have enough energy for my workout this morning. So what should I eat before working out?
Thanks,
Karen
Banana and a water about 15min before my workout. I workout first thing in the morning. If you ate well throughout the day and have eaten 1 hour before your workout you should be good to go. Just remember to drink some water.

I workout at 5:30 AM and I really don't want to get up at 4:30 AM just to eat. Will eating 15 minutes before working out help?

I don't eat anything b/f I exercise, but I do eat shortly after - a protein smoothie on strength days and a bowl of cereal or some cottag cheese and grapes on my running days.

Snickers and a milkshake. I know, I'm a health nut, but my body's a temple, ya know?

Cascade Fresh makes a drinkable yogurt without white sugar or corn syrup. I usually drink one of them on my way to the gym.
My former training recommended that I eat a protein and a carb - even a sandwich. I never could eat that heavy before I was awake.
Another suggestion that has been given to me is to add some oatmeal to my yogurt and/or in a smoothie. I may have to start doing that.
Make sure you are getting good nutrition after your workout as well. Eat some protein right away.

I usually try to walk about 3 miles in the morning before school, so I'll drink a glass of carrot juice and have a quick banana. If I am doing something more strenuous, I eat breakfast first (usually ww toast w/nut butter and a smoothie).

I drink a protein shake before I work out, but it is an hour before I go and then peanut butter toast or bread afterwards. Since you work out so early, you would probably be fine eating after. But make sure you eat ENOUGh and that is has protein in it. If you have the time and energy eggs are great. Also cottage cheese, but not everyone likes that.

I totally agree with this mom. I am skeptical about the "banana" posts. Although bananas have some valuable nutrients, they will raise blood sugar and have a lot of natural sugar.
