I'm teaching a leadership class for high schoolers. We're using 7 Habits and Leadership is an Art by Max DePree. Any hands on ideas/ thoughts/ other books recommendations?

Hmmm. In 4-H, to be a teen leader for a project you have to write a short plan for your year - goals and how to achieve them. You have to conduct at least one project meeting by yourself. You usually have to do the contact/followup to make sure kids attend the meetings. You may work with the project leader (adult) to plan out all the meetings for the year ahead of time, seek out project-related community service activities, coach kids for presentations, write or give project reports for newsletter/meeting, encourage the kids in the project entering stuff for competition (and set that example yourself). At the end of the year, you reflect on your beginning goals and what worked/what you learned. And you get comments from your adult leader.

One book that has always stuck with me was How to have power and confidence in dealing with people (http://www.amazon.com/Have-Confidence-Power-Dealing-People/dp/0134106717/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1251552164&sr=8-1). I haven't read it in many years but I remember it gave me (totally tongue tied introvert) power in talking with people in real life situations.

I don't agree with everything in this book but it's a good resource.

Another book might be "The Essential 55" and another book by the same author, whose title I can't remember.
