It's recommended for K-4th. I would have a 7th and 5th grader using it with my 3rd and 2nd graders as well. I'm not looking for this to be an in depth course for us....just a very simple study of "where things are" in the World, KWIM? This book looks "fun" enough, but will my olders be bored and find it more like busywork? They certainly need to know more about the locations of countries, etc. but should I choose something else? TIA for any opinions/suggestions.

Sue, my ds12 is a 6th grader and he does it with us. I also have him fill in black lined maps for a little extra. Galloping the Globe can be a lot more than what I do with it. So if you wanted more (which it doesn't sound like you do) you can definitely do that. I use it for the same reasons you do. We do a simple study and orientation to the places, but my dc have learned a lot. I can call out the countries that we've studied and they tell me what continents they are on. That's more than they knew at the beginning of the year! Also, they are so much more aware of places when they hear them on tv or read about them. They say, "Hey mom, we know about that place!" I just love that!
