I'm looking into Sonlight for literature - specifically because of the books and how they align great with the time period we'll be studying next year (SOTW2). I'll be using Rod and Staff Grammar so I'm not interested in following the full LA plan in SL.

Here are the readers I'm interested in covering for lit: http://www.sonlight.com/6-readers.html

Do I need Core 6 Instructors Guide: World History Part 1 (http://www.sonlight.com/6TB.html), OR do I need Language Arts 6 Instructors Guide (http://www.sonlight.com/6TL.html)? I'm not planning on following SL's history schedule per se (just want to use the readers and guide for them).

Sorry if it seems obvious - I have an old SL catalog and I'm trying to figure it out from their website. I'm thinking it's just the LA 6 Instructors Guide but wanting to double check first.

TIA!!!:)

I am fairly new to all this, but I believe you would need the history guide. The history guide will have the study guide and comprehension questions for the readers.

We are just doing Sonlight 6 Language and I found I needed the history guide to have the comprehension questions and whatnot to go with the readers. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.:)

Actually as long as you get a copy from 2005 or later (I'd look for 2006 to be sure they have the "bugs" out), it doesn't change much at all from year-to-year other than when a book goes out of print. There probably will be a bunch of 2007 ones for sale in the next few months.

This link explains what they've changed year-to-year: http://www.sonlight.com/ig-update-chart.html

We recently started a readers set. I ordered the schedule that goes with the reader package. It was less than ten dollars. It gives a brief overview of each book. This is all I need, but maybe you are needing more than a schedule and a brief overview. You may want to call SL or ask on the SL board though. I didn't order the LA IG or a new Core IG. The reader packages have been changed since I purchased my Core IG, so it doesn't really match up. That's why I needed the schedule. Anyways, the readers and the schedule would have been all I needed.

All I need is a reading schedule and questions to ask her orally for each chunk she reads.

I plan to call SL! :)

My readers schedule for gr.1 had questions and a schedule for the readers and I think it was only $5. There are samples of the guides here http://www.sonlight.com/samples-sonlight-ig-reader-package.html

I just looked back and saw you wanted Core 6 readers, those don't have a separate schedule. I think they are scheduled in both the LA and Core, but the questions are only in the Core guide, sorry!
