I need to have several dozen chocolate chip cookies ready for a church event, but the only problem is that I am going to be away for a couple of days before the day I am supposed to have them ready. Is it possible to make them in advance and freeze them? If so, what is the best way to freeze and thaw them?
Thanks!

You can freeze them in ziplock bags after they are baked... but they taste much better if you have time to freeze the dough, and do the baking right before the event.
If you have enough time and freezer space, shape the cookie dough into cookie sized balls on a cookie sheet. Once they're at least partially frozen, put them in ziploc bags so you can just pull them out, put them on the pan and bake as usual.

I agree with Whisperlily. For several years now, I've been making 10-12 batches of cookie dough at a time, shaping the dough into logs, wrapping them waxed paper, and then freezing them in Tupperware. When I need cookies, I thaw the dough and bake as usual. The cookies always get rave reviews and recipe requests.

I'm sure the results may vary with different recipes, but I used to use a recipe for chocolate chip cookies that had ground oats in it and it made such a large batch that I would freeze them. My husband always preferred them frozen!

...and in wintertime, springtime, and fall, too!:D I think every season is the right season for frozen cookies.

I have. They have always tasted just fine when thawed or not.

Thank you all. I think I am going to try to freeze a test batch and see how they turn out. :)
