Yes, they're ridiculous, but... I just moved to TX from Central WA and my $$ goes MUCH farther here in both of those categories. My grocery bill dropped by 40% and gas is at least .50 or .75 a gallon cheaper here. My housing cost has dropped (but energy costs make up the difference.)

I may be one of the only people in the country who is feeling some relief in these areas right now!

I'm hoping that our Summer move from SoCal to NW Florida will bring a bit of relief in these areas as well.

We live in N Alabama it's very cheap living here. We really don't see much difference in anything. Yes the gas prices a little but it's still very cheap to live here it does not affect us much. I know we'd feel it if we moved back to AZ

We just moved from West Central Florida to South Carolina. The housing costs are much better here. Gas is slightly cheaper. Groceries are about the same. Dh's pay went up (knock on wood). If we had been able to sell our house in Florida, things would be much, much better. Since we could only rent it and are still carrying some costs from that, we still have to be more frugal than I would like.

We live in a college town, lots of competition with Meijer, Payless (Kroger), Walmart, Marsh etc, so I have noticed a rise in some things, I usually shop the sales and my bill hasn't gone up that much, I have always shopped this way, plus my parents are beef farmers, so we buy beef off of them and I usually have a garden, but didn't last year because we moved, but will be having a small one this year.

Yes, I think the deep south is still relatively less expensive than other areas of the country (not that most would classify TX as south, but we did when we lived in LA). We found things pricier when we moved to Lexington and I *thought* KY was still in the south, LOL.....

We might be paying a touch more for groceries. Gas is going through the roof thanks to our Cook County taxes, but we don't drive too much. A lot of what we need is within walking distance. And as the weather gets warmer, "walking distance" will stretch farther.

What has really gone up here in Mass. is the cost of home heating oil. Last year, it cost us $300 to fill the tank. Friday, I had to pay $885 for the same thing (221 gallons). The oil lasts a month and we keep our thermostat set at 68 degrees.

What worries me is that diesel fuel costs more now than gasoline -- here it is $4.00/gallon.

Are you saying you are paying $885 per month for oil?:eek:

Yes. You could have knocked me over with a feather when oil delivery guy gave me the bill. Thank God we only have to pay for about 2 more months of oil before autumn.
