How do I get rid of those annoying paragragh symbols and dots on my word document?!?!

In the toolbar at the top, there should be a button with a paragraph symbol on it. You should be able to click it, and it should turn the invisible characters off. In my Word docs, it's right next to the little red toolbox icon.

ETA that I found the other way to do it if you need it. I'm on a Mac, so your menus may differ, but in mine, under the Word menu (at the top), if I choose Preferences, it gives me a window pane where I can see an option to view Nonprinting Characters. If any of those options are checked, uncheck them. That should turn them off too.
