BJU and SOS are more labor/time intensive than I would like. Rosetta Stone is not the answer either. I think I would like a text approach and supplement with audio/ and spanish easy reader/dvd's from the library. Any thoughts? Thank you, Angela

For Spanish I, I really like Madrigal's Magic Key to Spanish. It's nontraditional in its approach, but gets the student speaking decently quickly. It works heavily with cognates, and starts with past tense because that's the one we speak in the most often. If you do Madrigal's first semester and Practice Makes Perfect Spanish Verb Tenses second semester, you'll have a very solid Spanish course. Both are cheap paperback texts you can purchase at your local bookstore. Easy Spanish Reader is a good reader for Spanish I & II.
