I'm going to place an order within the next month and want to have a good selection of books and fun stuff (lit and history) to go along with the SOTW II spine.

Thanks so!

Our Island Story and This Country of Ours by H.E. Marshall

Viking Tales by Jennie Hall

D"Aulaire's Book of Norse Myths

This is just a very short list for now. I am going to be doing some more research into this and compile a longer list soon...especially after I get the AG and look at SWB suggestions. Plus, this thread will aid in that also. ;)

by Mary Pope Osbourne. It has a good variety of stories. I also have the medieval paper dolls and the knights treasure chest. I picked up a kit on illuminated lettering from the craft store. A Medieval Feast by Aliki. Gregorian chants are fun for this time period too.

We use Biblioplan which rounds out SOTW nicely. Biblioplan schedules readers at 3 different age levels and has a family read-aloud always going too, so we get lots of good books to read. We also have a few Jim Weiss CDs we listen to in the car that fit nicely. We use the SOTW AG to compile additional picture books from the library and we usually enjoy all of those. With girls, I have particularly enjoyed finding Cinderella stories from different cultures (Golden Sandal, Yeh-Shen, the "original" French Perrault version, etc.). I can't really share Biblioplan's list, but I'll mention two favorites I don't often see posts about: Explorers Who Got Lost (it gets long, but I learned so much!) and Rats, Bulls, and Flying Machines (about renaissance, from Core Knowledge, available from Rainbow Resource). For Jim Weiss, we have and enjoy Arabian Nights, King Arthur, and Shakespeare, and we've listened to a few others from the library.

I usually get my books out of the library, but there are few that I had to buy.

Don’t Know Much About the Kings and Queens of England—Kenneth Davis
Dangerous Journey—John Bunyan
A Three-Dimensional Medieval Castle—Willabel Tong
We read most of the books on the lists in previous posts. These are a few of our other favorites.

1001 Arabian Nights—Geraldine McCaughrean
Shadow Spinner—Susan Fletcher
Harold the Herald—Dana Fradon
Everyday Life of a _________—Giovanni Caselli (a nice series)
Life in the Middle Ages Series—Schlessinger Media
